Review: Milk Makeup Blur Stick

I am a primer hoarder. Mainly because I have oily skin and I’ll do just about anything to combat it. On that note, I think I may have found my holy grail primer for oily skin. It is the Milk Makeup Blur Stick. Don’t let the fact that it could easily be mistaken for deodorant fool you. This primer has been holding me down all summer, without irritating my skin or causing breakouts.

If you have dry skin, I would not recommend this at all. With the seasons changing and the need to adjust my skincare regimen, I’ve used some products that had my skin feeling like a Starbucks napkin and still tried using this primer. I’ve never wanted to stick my face in a vat of coconut oil more than that time.  My skin was tight, itchy, and felt like I had on a mask, despite wearing a lightweight, dewy finish foundation. If you have combination skin, only apply this to the bits that get oily. Now let’s get into the pros and cons:

Pros
  • Great for controlling oil
  • Helps fill in large pores
  • Amazing base for foundation
  • Did not cause breakouts or skin irritation on me
  • Actually blurs skin imperfections like large pores and fine lines
  • Oil-free and silicone-free
Cons
  • Very uncomfortable on dry skin
  • Can’t be used on its own because it leaves a white cast
  • Depending on your moisturizer, there can be piling of the product when applied (don’t combine this with a mattifying moisturizer)
  • Takes some effort to blend into the skin, which can eventually contribute to wrinkles
  • No SPF

All in all, this is a fantastic primer if you have oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin like myself. The only thing I could think of that would make this better, is if it had some sort of SPF in it.
