    What Is That, Velvet?

I’ve been on a journey to baby soft skin since…I was no longer a baby. I moved past my insecurities about having dark skin and the belief that if I scrubbed hard enough I might not be so Black. I’m now at the point in my life where I love my dark skin and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Now I want to make my deep skin as luxe and supple as possible and I’ve finally found my regimen. Note: this regimen is not for the face, but for the body. In Shower I LOVE a good shower and this is where I begin my routine. You may remember…

    Review: Milk Makeup Blur Stick

I am a primer hoarder. Mainly because I have oily skin and I’ll do just about anything to combat it. On that note, I think I may have found my holy grail primer for oily skin. It is the Milk Makeup Blur Stick. Don’t let the fact that it could easily be mistaken for deodorant fool you. This primer has been holding me down all summer, without irritating my skin or causing breakouts. If you have dry skin, I would not recommend this at all. I’ve Got the Glow: My Skincare Routine

I was one of those lucky freaks of nature to have very few issues concerning my skin during my teenage years. Sure I had mild acne here and there, but nothing that required frequent visits to the dermatologist or made me self conscious. Fast forward into my late twenties and boom! Cystic acne, hyperpigmentation, new skin sensitivities, and scarring. Getting older really is one disappointment after another. So of course I start trying everything I can get my hands on (and is within my budget) to try and treat my concerns. Some kinda worked, some made it worse, and some were just as good as splashing water on my face. But…

Summer Glow In A Bottle: The Body Shop’s Honey Bronze Dry Oil

One part of the fall and winter that I hate is that i no longer have that healthy glow that comes from frolicking in the sun for hours (wearing sunblock of course.) No matter how well I exfoliate and moisturize, I just can’t get that glow back. Of course, I’m typically covered head to toe for the harsh Northeast winters, but every now and then I step out and like to show some skin. But as I said before, that summer time glow is long gone. My skin isn’t dry or rough. I’m not dehydrated or lacking in vitamins. My skin  just lacks the sheen that a healthy amount time…

Curl Mix Whipped Mango & Black Currant Body & Hair Butter

If you read my post on Blavity’s EmpowerHer Conference you will have noticed that I mentioned a vendor called CurlMix. I picked up the Whipped Mango & Black Currant Body Butter just because of the smell and packaging. I am a sucker for pleasant smelling body products and  cute packaging. I love mason jars and this kit came with 3 mason jars filled with the products needed of various sizes. The price tag for a CurlMix box is typically $30, but I was lucky enough to snag it for $20 at the special conference price. The actual process of mixing/whipping the products was simpler than I thought it would be. The instructions…
