Review: Hair Paint Wax

I love vibrant hair colors, but I’m freaked out by the prospect of damaging my natural hair. It’s why you will often see me with bright blue or red crotchet hairstyles. I’ve tried many temporary colored hair sprays and chalks and none of them have provided the vibrancy or lasting effects I was hoping for, until now. I stumbled upon Hair Paint Wax on Instagram, much the same as I find a plethora of other new products I would like to try. I don’t usually go through on purchases because people who look like me are rarely featured on their pages. However, Hair Paint Wax was different. Not only did they feature dark-skinned customers, but they also featured people with 4C hair! In the temporary hair color market, this is almost unseen. So of course I had to purchase.

I was not disappointed….completely. They range in price from $6.99- $48.93 for a mix of 7 colors. I purchased 4 colors of Hair Paint Wax; Blue, Purple, Silver, and Green. All of them showed up magnificently in my hair, except for the Green. Out of 4 colors, only 1 not being great is still an accomplishment. I do believe the Green would work well in someone whose hair is lighter than mine though.

Each time I used the Hair Paint Wax I used it in conjunction with my regular leave in products for twist outs. I was worried that the added creams and oils would effect how well the Hair Paint Wax would hold and show up but they didn’t cause a problem. I also noticed that adding in the wax kept my twist outs more defined for longer. I typically have definition for a max of 3 days, but this held my styles for a week or more.

I know you are wondering, “Does the hair color transfer?” The answer is yes. However, it is easily washed out of clothing and off your hands. It transfers but it doesn’t stain. So maybe don’t rest your head on anyone wearing a white shirt lol.

Washing out the Hair Paint Wax was a breeze. Most of the color rinsed out with just water and the rest was taken care of with a light shampoo. After washing out the color I went on to do my normal conditioning routine with no added damage to my real hair. The creators of this product have a new long term customer with me.
